DeBlogged, featuring the all-new GrungeD theme.

I’ve been attacked lately by a writer’s block when it comes to blogging (READ: laziness). Apart from the inherent laziness that prevents me from logging-in into my blog, awful words that my brain churns out every time I conquer laziness are just not the kind of words that will make a post presentable to people all over the web.

It might be that everytime I check on my blog, I always see the boring theme of my blog. I won’t even be interested to read posts on my own blog because of the too-plain looks of it. With that said, I decided to give my poor blog a well-deserved overhaul!

The all-new theme of DeBlogged is GrungeD, thanks to SkinPress.com. It is an arty, grungy theme that’s set in low key grays and pastel colors. There is a very definite watercolor painting feel to this 2 column design with rounded edges. The shoutbubbles to the right of every post title indicates the number of comments to the particular post.

The theme is not overly formal, nor overly grungy, but gets away with the boredom that the previous theme offers. It features a lighter tone that gives more free room for the eyes to move around, and provides a more welcoming mood for its visitors.

Welcome to the all-new DeBlogged, and watch out for more posts (really!) from my portion of the cyberspace!

So, how’s my new theme? Shout it out at the comment box below. ;)

Twenty-eighth of January, the Gensan Bloggers, led by Sir Avel Manansala of GenSan News Online Mag were invited to an all-free treat to General Santos City’s newest fresh water resort, the Gensan View Resort. Having no idea at all about the resort, I decided to give it a try. I was thinking of yet another resort full of people and eardrum-popping videoke machines roaring on every cottage where beer is served.

To get to the place, nine of us at the Robinsons Place General Santos cramped into a sedan. Yes, nine. Yes, a sedan. You could just imagine how close we, friends, are. It was a pretty short ride to the resort, and it was a relief to finally be out from being squished in the car.

The resort turned out to be jaw-dropping, considering the thoughts that I had before getting to the place! The resort is a wide, magnificent space that will make you think that you’re somewhere far from the hustle and bustle of downtown General Santos. Family cottages are available for rent, and are amply-spaced that one wouldn’t worry about smelling the food of the next nearest cottage. Read the rest of this entry »

The SocCSKSarGen Bloggers’ Photojournalism Workshop and Christmas Party was my first activity with the group ever since I became one of them. For those who do not have an idea of what the group is all about, here goes: The SoCCSKSarGen Bloggers is a group of more than 150 bloggers from the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and the cities of Cotabato and General Santos. The group includes some of the top bloggers in Mindanao (the second largest island in the Philippines), as well as some of the most respected personalities in the region. To make the long story short, the Sox Bloggers are some of the coolest people you can meet around!

Sarah Geronimo: The Next One Concert | Photo courtesy of http://www.gensantos.comIf you haven’t read my previous entry yet, take a glimpse first by clicking here.

Thanks to Kuya Avel Manansala of www.gensantos.com and Mr. Michael Wee of Dreamwork Ventures, the producer of the ‘Sarah Geronimo: The Next One’ Concert, I got myself two courtyard tickets worth P1500 each! On top of the tickets, I also won a gift certificate worth P1000 from Grab a Crab – Robinsons Place, and an invite to its opening (though I failed to attend because I came late, sigh!)!

Though I was never a Sarah Geronimo fan, nor of any of the guest stars in the concert, I went to the concert because of the Top Five: Reasons on why I should watch Sarah G.’s concert. Let’s see if the reasons were good enough: Read the rest of this entry »

Top Five: Reasons on why I should watch Sarah G.’s concert

Sarah Geronimo - The Next One Concert in Gensan
If not only for Gensan News Online Mag’s blog contest on the Sarah Geronimo-The Next One Concert in GenSan, I wouldn’t be writing a blog post right now. Nothing beats sleeping ’til 11:00 am on days without classes! And, another thanks to this blog contest, I have come up with the idea of posting TOP FIVES on my blog!

Just last night, I blogged about the upcoming PBA game in Gensan to be played between the Coca-Cola Tigers and the Talk ‘n Text Tropang Texters, and I got myself a pass for tomorrow’s game, thanks to Sir Avel of Gensan News Online Mag! Now, here’s a post for another blog contest on another big event from the city’s biggest blog! The contest is entitled “5 Reasons on why you should watch ‘The Next One’ Concert” BLOG CONTEST, and at stake are tickets to the concert and more, in cooperation with Michael Wee’s Dreamwork Ventures, the producer of the concert.

Now, the biggest question that this blog post wishes to answer is: Why should I watch Sarah G.’s The Next One Concert on December 11? Here goes: Read the rest of this entry »

The ‘Imported’ National Game

Coca-Cola Tigers vs. Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters in GensanIt is interesting to know how the National Game of the Philippines has been transformed from the good ol’ ’sipa’ to the game where people in a large court run and run just to have a grab of the elusive ball. The Filipinos’ addiction to basketball is evidenced by a basketball court found in all places imaginable – from the Big Dome to our high school’s covered courts, from the courts behind the barangay hall to the simple metal hoops nailed to a tree in a copra dryer. Even as basketball is already ages-old, there’s seems to be no signs of the Filipino basketball craze fading off. From the big city, to the southernmost city of the Philippines – General Santos, no spot on the 7,107 islands fail to be affected by the craze! Read the rest of this entry »

Thank you, Opera!

I’ve been using Opera ever since I landed my hands on my very first PC (and Java-enabled mobile). My experience on Opera has been truly fantastic! I wouldn’t use it as my exclusive browser if it weren’t that great! But unexpectedly, I have received more than the best internet experience that anybody could ever have. I also received great Opera stuff, thanks to the Opera Campus Crew! Thank you, Opera Software, for the following:

  • A cool Opera laptop/messenger bag - my prize for being one of the most active members of the Campus Crew for the June-December 2008 semester. All I need is a laptop to use the bag!
  • A ‘Moods of Norway and Opera’ shirt – for being one of those who contributed great ideas to the last Campus Crew brainstorming chats. It’s a limited edition shirt!
